Drum Major WO1
I. Wheeler, MB, CD
WO1 Wheeler joined the CLB in 1972 and was posted
to "A" Company shortly thereafter. He joined the
Regimental Band in 1977 as a member of the percussion
section. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in
2000 and also served as the Band's property manager from
2001 until 2009. He was appointed Drum Major in 2003 and promoted
to the rank of Warrant Officer First Class following that appointment.
Mr. Wheeler
is a third generation CLB member.
His father, the late Joe Wheeler was a proud member of
the Regimental Band for some 45 years. Mr. Wheeler's wife presently
holds the rank of Captain and serves as CLB
Aide-de-Camp for The Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland.
WO1 Wheeler is also involved in other volunteer organizations. He
is a past
Provincial Commissioner of St. John Ambulance. As a result
of his involvement with that organization, he has been awarded the title
Officer of the Order of St. John,
the Service Medal of the Order of St. John, and the Queen's Golden
Jubilee Medal. He also served approximately fourteen years
with the Canadian Naval Reserve and has been awarded the Canadian
Forces Decoration.
